5 Reasons to Feel Good About Your Next Espresso | Espresso Coffee

espresso, espresso coffee, gourmet coffee, jamaican blue mountain coffee, blue mountain coffee, kona coffee, geisha coffee

It’s funny, but there are so many people who continue to view their morning coffee as something of a guilty pleasure. Or for that matter, feel as if they’re indulging in something a little naughty every time they reach for an espresso.

Still, it isn’t difficult to understand, given the way in which coffee and caffeine earned such a bad rap for such a long time. It was suggested – sometimes quite subtly – that a lifestyle built around the joys of espresso coffee represented an unhealthy and potentially dangerous lifestyle.

These days however, things have done a complete 180. Not only is espresso coffee no longer considered a threat, but coffee in general is known to have some surprisingly beneficial effects on human health. Quite the turn-up, given how more than half of all UK adults admit to drinking coffee on a daily basis!

Worldwide, espresso coffee consumption has tripled since 2008, while the consumption of gourmet coffee has doubled during the same period. The good news being that for the first time in a long time, you’ve every reason to feel good about your next espresso.

…and here’s why:

Drinking your espresso coffee can lower type 2 diabetes and heart disease risk

Incredibly, an increase in daily coffee consumption has been linked with an 11% reduction in overall type two diabetes risk in the average healthy adult.  In addition, it was found that women in particular who consume coffee on a daily basis have a significantly lower risk of developing heart disease than those who drink less coffee, or no coffee at all. If ever there was a reason to reach for another espresso, this is probably it!

Coffee can reduce the risk of certain types of cancer

While coffee alone isn’t considered an effective cancer deterrent, there’s a strong correlation between coffee consumption and a reduced risk of certain types of cancer. For example, one study found that individuals who increased their coffee consumption to at least 2 cups per day were more than 40% less likely to develop liver cancer.

One espresso coffee per day can reduce the risk of neurodegenerative disease

Even if you indulge in just one or two coffees per day, research suggests you are significantly less likely to develop Alzheimer’s Disease or Parkinson’s Disease in later life. The biggest benefits enjoyed by those who drink approximately 3 cups of coffee per day.

Coffee can decrease depression in women

Another benefit specific to female coffee lovers, research has drawn interesting links between daily coffee consumption and a 20% lower risk of depression.  Women who drink four or more cups of coffee per day standing a much greater chance of avoiding depression than those who drink no coffee at all.

Coffee benefits longevity

If all of the above wasn’t enough, there’s said to be a direct correlation between the amount of coffee an individual consumes daily and their respective overall death risk from any natural cause. Or to put it another way, those who drink between three and five cups of coffee per day typically live longer than those who drink coffee in smaller quantities, or no coffee whatsoever.
